PUBLISHING YOUR BOOK, STEP BY STEP
Submit your original work
Every great journey begins with a first step. And that first step is to send us your manuscript so we can review it for publication. When you submit your manuscript to Chiado Books, it is completely secure. We guarantee not only the security of your manuscript—which will be used solely for the purpose of a publication review—but also the confidentiality of your submission.
Our team will evaluate it and make a proposal
Once we receive your manuscript, we will review it promptly and contact you. Regardless of whether or not we are interested in publishing your manuscript, we will always contact you to inform you of our decision. If we are interested in publishing your manuscript, we will prepare a clear and transparent publication proposal, which we will present to you in writing.
We'll polish the text and create the design for your book
Once we reach an agreement to publish your book, we’ll work on it to ensure the best possible final result. We’ll design the cover and interior based on your ideas and suggestions. We won’t proceed with printing the book until the cover and interior are exactly as you, the author, want them. If you feel it’s necessary, we’ll also proofread the manuscript.
We create a promotional plan for your book
Once all the design work is complete, while your book is being produced at our printing facility, we will develop a promotional plan for your book. This plan will be provided to you, and our communications department will always be available to assist you in any way possible.
We distribute your book worldwide
Your book will be available for purchase online at various bookstores and marketplaces around the world. Your book will also be available at various bookstores, both for order and as a physical copy. However, it’s important to have realistic expectations and to understand that bookstores will always have the final say on whether or not your book is carried, where it is stocked, and how long it remains on the shelves.
You, as the author, are paid for each copy sold
After the book is released on the market, the author will be paid for each copy sold. The author will also have access to a private area of our website where they can track the number of copies sold. In that same area of the site, the author can request payment of their royalties.
